The Splendid Hotel and Residences – Historic Prestige in the Heart of Nice

Originally built in 1883 based on the plans of architect Maraini, the Splendid Hotel underwent several transformations before World War I. In 1962, it was replaced by a modern complex that retained the name “Splendid”.

This impressive building now hosts two distinct entities:

  • The Splendid Residences: a residential section with access via Boulevard Victor Hugo or Rue Berlioz, featuring a dedicated reception desk.
  • The Splendid Hotel & Spa: a 4-star hotel with 128 rooms and suites, offering a rooftop pool and jacuzzi. Its entrance is at the corner of Boulevard Victor Hugo and Rue Gounod.

An Exceptional Address in the Carré d’Or

Today, the Splendid enjoys a prime location in the most prestigious district of central Nice, known as the Carré d’Or. Ideally positioned between the sea and the city, and only a short stroll from the Promenade des Anglais, the residence offers a truly enviable lifestyle.

Set along the elegant Boulevard Victor Hugo—a wide, tree-lined avenue surrounded by Belle Époque architecture and stately mansions—the Splendid benefits from immediate proximity to shops, cultural venues, and public transportation.

Seamless Urban Connectivity

The area has recently been enhanced by the addition of the new tramway line, with a main station just steps from Avenue Jean Médecin, Nice’s primary shopping boulevard. The tram now runs underground along the boulevard, connecting key commercial and tourist hubs from the airport to the Port of Nice.

A Peaceful Setting Close to Everything

Located near the vibrant pedestrian district—with its inviting cafés and restaurants full of Mediterranean charm—the Splendid benefits from the local ambiance without the noise. It’s the perfect blend of centrality and tranquility.

Gateway to the Old Town and Riviera Lifestyle

Just beyond, you’ll find Place Masséna and the Albert 1er Gardens, which lead to the authentic heart of Nice’s Old Town. From the lively Cours Saleya flower market to the colorful alleyways and the nearby Port of Nice—a favorite haunt for artists and dreamers—the area reflects the essence of life on the French Riviera.
