A place steeped in history
Nice - Nice Ouest
2 kms west of the original urban core, where the hills tightly embrace the sea, the Fabron district in Nice, which was developed in the second half of the 19th century, is dotted with houses of unexpected architecture.
In this residential area, the Abbaye de Roseland is a sumptuous building complex highly prized for its peace and quiet, its immediate proximity to the coastal beaches, and its unique location in the heart of a sumptuous park steeped in history.
The residence itself has never actually been an abbey but originally one of those field houses that Nice families had built in the countryside in the 17th and 18th centuries.
With its chapel and cloister, this superb complex has long been an ideal place of residence for people of high society and nobility.
It owes most of its current appearance to the antique dealer Edouard Larcade, who bought it in 1925 and added numerous medieval features. The garden designed by the landscape architect Octave Godart combines French geometry with an Italian touch brought by the sculptures, basins and white marble furniture.
A secure residence with caretaker, video surveillance, swimming pool, restaurant, tennis court and children’s playground, Roseland Abbey is close to all amenities, the Promenade des Anglais and the airport and 5 km from the town centre.
