Between luxury and historical heritage
Beausoleil -
The Riviera Palace is an old hotel located in Beausoleil, built between 1898 and 1903 and registered as a historical monument since 1989. Of great luxury, the building was built for the Compagnie Internationale des Grands Hôtels et Wagons-lits, according to the plans of the architect Georges Chedanne. Chedanne was awarded the Grand Prix de Rome in 1887 and was the architect of the Élysée Palace, the first of the great traveler’s hotels built on the Champs-Élysées, and the Galeries Lafayette Haussmann in Paris.
The Riviera Palace is presented in an eclectic Belle Époque style with its elegant south-facing façade adorned with numerous windows, bow-windows, corbels and blue earthenware balustrades. This magical place, located 180 meters above the sea, welcomed at the beginning of the 20th century the rich Russian, Austro-Hungarian and English clientele, for whom sumptuous festivities were organized. Great names also had their habits there, such as Leopold II, King of the Belgians, the imperial family of Russia, the Shahs of Persia, the great Russian dancers and musicians Diaghilev, Nijinsky, Stravinsky, the woman of letters Colette or Winston Churchill.
The Riviera Palace houses a winter garden designed by Gustave Eiffel, of exceptional size (900 m² and 20 meters high) and resplendent with its glass roof, rock gardens and subtropical plants.
Located in Beausoleil, a small dynamic town with many green spaces and gardens and offering magnificent panoramas of the coastline, the Riviera Palace has all the assets of a climatic resort. The town is characterized by its narrow streets, small passages and staircases, and also benefits from the economic activity of Monaco. Many working people have chosen to live in Beausoleil because of its proximity to the Principality of Monaco.
